Gulets

Why charter a gulet?

Gulets are crewed by default — you don't bareboat a gulet. Slow cruising under motor with occasional sails, Turkish hospitality, big deck space and meals on board. The 'small ship' of yacht charter — perfect for big family groups and special occasions.

Decide between

Gulet or crewed catamaran?

Both crewed. Wildly different week.

Crewed catamaran

Modern, fast, lots of glass.

  • Modern design — open deck, light interior
  • 7-10 knots cruise
  • Shallow draft (1.2 m) — close-in anchoring
  • Sailing performance — real sail-power
  • Mediterranean + Caribbean + Asia

Best for Crews who want a "yacht" feel.

Gulet questions

Asked and answered.

Where do gulets sail?
Mostly Turkey (Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye) and Croatia (Dubrovnik, Split). Some operators offer the Aegean (Athens area) but it's rarer.
How much do I tip the gulet crew?
10-15% of charter fee, split among the crew. The captain typically distributes.
Are gulets really 'sailing' boats?
Technically yes — they have masts and sails — but most weeks 80%+ of the cruising is under motor. The sails come up for an hour or two of show. If you want real sailing, pick a sailing cat or sailboat.
Can I have specific food requests on a gulet?
Yes — gulets have a dedicated chef. Tell us your group's preferences (kosher, vegan, allergies, kid-friendly) and the chef plans accordingly.
