Crewed yachts

Why charter a crewed yacht?

Crewed yachts come with captain + hostess (sometimes a chef). The captain handles the boat; the hostess handles the meals and cabins. You bring the holiday — they bring the certifications, local knowledge, and the daily rhythm.

Crewed yacht questions

Asked and answered.

What's the difference between crewed and skippered?
Skippered = captain only. Crewed = captain + hostess (sometimes chef). Skippered is cheaper; crewed is the catered version.
How much do I tip the crew?
5-15% of charter fee, cash, end of week. The captain typically distributes among the crew.
Where does the crew sleep?
Captain in a small skipper cabin (single berth). Hostess in her own cabin on bigger boats; sharing on smaller. They never use a guest cabin unless invited.
How private is the boat with crew on board?
Pretty private — captain is on watch at the helm or in the engine room, hostess works in the galley. You get the cockpit, sundeck and saloon to yourselves outside of meals.
