Croatia

Why charter in Croatia.

The Dalmatian coast runs roughly 300 nautical miles between Istria and the Bay of Kotor, and the sailing happens in the gaps — short hops between islands, a konoba on the quay at Šolta, an empty cove on the back of Hvar before the day-trippers find it. The water is the colour you've seen in photographs and didn't believe.

We sail out of Trogir most summers. The tramontana from the north-west is reliable and rarely vicious, the navigation is line-of-sight, and harbours are close enough that a short day still gets you somewhere worth dropping the hook. Right for first charterers, couples, and families. Less right if you want long offshore legs.

Croatia questions

Asked and answered.

When is the best time to sail Croatia?
May, June, and September are the sweet spots — warm water, steady wind, quieter anchorages. July and August sail well but the popular bays fill up by mid-afternoon and you'll want to be in early. October is quieter still, with cooler evenings and more variable weather.
What licence do I need to skipper a charter yacht here?
Croatia requires an ICC or equivalent national sailing licence plus a VHF radio certificate from the lead skipper. Both must be physical originals on board for the check-in. If you don't hold these, we can arrange a professional skipper — just let us know when enquiring.
How do I get to the marina?
Split airport is 20 minutes by taxi from ACI Marina Trogir and has direct flights from most European hubs. Dubrovnik and Zadar are further afield but workable if the routing suits. We'll send marina directions and check-in timings once your booking is confirmed.
